ROUTE K1
KINGSTON - NEW MALDEN STATION
IntroductionThe current K1 bus service (Kingston-New Malden) was introduced on the 27th June 1987, following a restructure of bus routes in the area. it saw the creation of a new Hoppa Service devoted to Kingston, yet didn't stop in Kingston at all. The route origianally ran from Surbiton to New Malden. When London Buses realised their error, it was 9 years too late. The K1 was eventually given a daily service to Kingston on the 29th June 1996. It was with London united from deregulation until June 2013, where the contract was awarded to Abellio London with new E20Ds. The route currently uses these buses, and a spare dart at TF. (Commonly 8041 and another bus).
