ROUTE 146
DOWNE - BROMLEY NORTH
About the route...The current state of the 146 came about in 1958, as a daily service from Bromley North to Downe. It used a daily allocation of 3 RTs, operating every 20 mins from Bromley and Keston, and every 60 to Downe. This was because the tiny roads the 146 serves between Keston and Downe can only be served by one bus at a time. It was converted to OPO in 1978, allowing it to use smaller BL type buses. When the tendering process began, Crystals Coaches won the right to run the 146 service in 1987 (see timetable here) with Mercedes minibuses, operating once an hour Monday to Saturday. The timetables stayed almost the same untill this present day (besides the operator change).
